East Daley Analytics is a fast-paced leading provider of North American energy infrastructure and commodity market insights, offering data-driven solutions to help clients navigate investment decisions, M&A transactions, and financial market opportunities.
Our Mission: We move the market. We are sitting with the biggest decision makers in the sector. We are quoted in the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times. We deliver information, knowledge, and wisdom that shapes real decisions for the most influential leaders in energy and finance and we do it with speed, rigor, and conviction.
East Daley is looking for a commercially aggressive, entrepreneurial sales leader to create opportunities, win new clients, and grow revenue across North American energy and financial markets. Reporting to the Senior Sales Director, this person will operate with a high degree of autonomy and own their new business from first outreach through close.
This is a hunter role. The primary focus is generating and closing new business: finding opportunities others miss, opening doors with senior decision makers, and turning conversations into signed contracts. A secondary priority is partnering with Account Management on expansion opportunities, including upsells and cross-sells of subscriptions, data products, and advisory services within existing clients.
The ideal candidate is a proven B2B hunter and closer, ideally from data, analytics, research, or information services, with a track record of building pipeline from scratch and consistently exceeding targets. They are self-directed, competitive, and resourceful, and they bring executive presence, a consultative selling style, and a working understanding of the oil and gas value chain and how producers, midstream operators, traders, and investors buy market intelligence.
Success in this role will be measured first by new bookings and the pipeline the Sales Director creates, followed by win rates, average deal size, and contribution to expansion revenue within existing accounts.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Creating Opportunities & Winning New Business
• Own a book of new business, independently identifying, opening, and building opportunities across producers, midstream operators, utilities, traders, banks, private equity, and institutional investors.
• Use industry networks, referrals, events, and East Daley’s market visibility to get in front of senior decision makers, partnering with Marketing and representing East Daley at industry conferences.
• Lead complex, multi-stakeholder pursuits from first meeting through negotiation and close, including enterprise subscriptions and data licensing agreements.
• Bring creativity to deal structure, packaging, and pricing to win competitive opportunities and grow deal size.
• Keep pipeline and forecast current with the Senior Sales Director so wins are visible and resources follow the best opportunities.
Expansion Support
• Partner with Account Management to identify and close upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing clients.
• Support strategic account plans with sales expertise, executive relationships, and deal strategy for expansion opportunities.
Go-to-Market Collaboration
• Partner with Product and Marketing to bring new data products to market, sharing client feedback on positioning, packaging, and pricing.
• Work with Product and Advisory to tailor proposals and demonstrations to client priorities.
Team Contribution
• Share what works with the account prospecting team, coaching on prospecting, deal strategy, and closing.
• Model a culture of ownership, transparency, urgency, and results with a “play to win” ethos.
Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive B2B sales experience, with a consistent record of exceeding new-business targets.
• Demonstrated success building pipeline from scratch and closing complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals.
• Entrepreneurial, self-directed approach, with comfort operating autonomously and creating opportunities rather than relying on inbound leads.
• Experience selling to senior executives in energy, financial services, or other sophisticated buyer groups.
• Oil and gas, midstream, energy, or commodity market experience strongly preferred; experience selling data, analytics, research, or SaaS subscriptions a plus.
• Experience coaching or mentoring other sellers preferred.
• Strong executive presence and consultative selling skills.
• Proficiency with Salesforce or HubSpot, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proven ability to operate with urgency, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to personal growth and willingness to travel up to 30–40% for client meetings and industry events.
Benefits
• Medical (with multiple plan options), Dental, and Vision Coverage with Company Contributions
• 401K with a 3% Company Match
• Flexible and Health Savings Account Options with Company Contributions
• EAP and Wellness Program
• Life and Accidental Death, Short- and Long-Term Disability Coverage
• Base salary: $135,000 – $150,000 (commensurate with experience and location)
• Variable incentive (target): $90,000 – $100,000, tied to new bookings, pipeline generation, and expansion revenue, with accelerators for performance above plan
• On-target earnings (OTE): $225,000 – $250,000
