About the role

Role Overview

Our client, an established luxury cigar brand with a 10-year heritage originating from Mozambique, is scaling up its distribution footprint across Lagos, Nigeria. Having established a central warehouse base in Ikeja, the brand is expanding its penetration into top-tier liquor stores, nightclubs, high-end restaurants, lounges, hotels (HORECA), and luxury retail outlets.

We are seeking a proactive, highly autonomous, and target-driven Sales Executive to lead key account acquisition and management across Lagos. The successful candidate will build strong commercial relationships with venue owners, beverage managers, and procurement leads to establish brand presence, drive sales volume, and secure sustainable market share.

Key Responsibilities

1. Key Account Acquisition & Distribution Expansion

  • Identify, map, and onboard premium HORECA outlets (luxury bars, lounges, high-end restaurants, nightclubs, 5-star hotels) and specialized liquor stores across Lagos.

  • Pitch the brand’s heritage, premium product range, and unique value proposition to decision-makers (venue owners, general managers, and procurement heads).

  • Negotiate distribution agreements, trade terms, product placement, and shelf space visibility across key accounts.

2. Relationship Management & Route-to-Market Execution

  • Build and nurture long-term commercial relationships with prospective and existing clients to drive consistent re-orders.

  • Conduct regular account visits across Lagos to monitor inventory levels, stock rotation, display quality, and end-consumer engagement.

  • Manage flexible site-visit schedules, including late-afternoon or evening account visits tailored to night-trade and hospitality operations.

3. Sales Targets & Commercial Growth

  • Meet and exceed monthly sales volume and distribution activation targets to maximize personal commission earnings.

  • Monitor market trends, consumer preferences, price points, and competitor activities within the luxury FMCG/hospitality space.

  • Identify new market entry points and commercial opportunities within assigned territories in Lagos.

4. Reporting & Operational Independence

  • Work independently while maintaining daily/weekly communication lines with the Managing Director.

  • Track sales pipelines, client feedback, stock movement, and market intelligence, submitting structured progress reports.

  • Manage route schedules, travel, and site visits effectively using a private vehicle or ride-hailing services.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. / HND) in Marketing, Business Administration, Humanities, or related fields.

  • Professional Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven sales and account management experience in FMCG, Premium Spirits/Liquor, Tobacco, Luxury Retail, or HORECA/Hospitality account sales.

  • Mobility: Must possess a functional private vehicle OR be completely comfortable utilizing ride-hailing services (e.g., Uber/Bolt) for extensive field visits across Lagos.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Demonstrated track record of opening new accounts and closing commercial deals.

    • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and executive presentation skills.

    • Deep understanding of the commercial landscape, key commercial hubs, and hospitality trade across Lagos.

    • Established contacts or an existing network of leads within the Lagos HORECA/retail sector is an added advantage.

  • Work Style: High level of self-motivation, commercial maturity, resilience, and comfort operating with autonomy.
