As a Senior Engineer within Decani, you'll lead the delivery of complex software initiatives across one of Ideagen's flagship EHS & Quality platforms. Used by 18,500+ customers worldwide, Decani helps organisations in highly regulated industries manage critical safety, quality, compliance, and operational workflows.

Working on one of Ideagen's strategic growth products, you'll lead the delivery of complex software initiatives, solve challenging engineering problems, and help define the technical standards that underpin a scalable, secure, and modern platform. You'll combine hands-on development with technical leadership, mentoring engineers, influencing architectural decisions, and driving engineering excellence across the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex software features, enhancements and technical initiatives that support product growth and customer outcomes.

• Provide technical leadership within the squad, helping engineers make sound design, architecture and implementation decisions.

• Establish and maintain high standards of engineering quality through code reviews, testing strategies and software design best practices.

• Mentor engineers across the team, helping improve technical capability, delivery effectiveness and engineering confidence.

• Review technical specifications and identify opportunities to improve scalability, reliability and long-term maintainability.

• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development approaches and share best practices that improve engineering productivity.

• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.

• Contribute to broader technical initiatives that improve platform quality, engineering effectiveness and customer outcomes.

Skills and Experience

• Strong commercial software engineering experience delivering complex products, services or enterprise applications.

• Deep understanding of software design, architecture and engineering best practices.

• Experience owning technically challenging initiatives from concept through to production delivery.

• Proven ability to mentor engineers and influence technical standards within development teams.

• Strong appreciation for software testing, maintainability, performance and engineering quality.

• Experience working closely with Product teams to balance technical decisions with commercial priorities.

• Experience in AI-assisted development practices and modern software delivery methodologies.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
• Preferred experience - strong backend experience (Java preferred), front end (Vue.js), with cloud technologies (AWS) - alternatives considered

Therefore, for candidates living within a 35-mile radius of Nottingham, this role will follow a hybrid working pattern, with three days per week based in our Ruddington office.
