We are seeking an experienced factoring and credit specialist to lead underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio management for commercial accounts receivable (A/R) factoring facilities.
In this role, you will evaluate debtor creditworthiness, establish credit limits, verify invoices, and structure financing arrangements for high-growth e-commerce, consumer packaged goods (CPG), and B2B wholesale businesses.
You will play a critical role in protecting portfolio quality by managing dilution risk, analyzing lien positions, and ensuring the proper perfection of security interests.
Working closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Risk teams, you will help transform complex factoring processes into scalable, automated workflows.
The position combines deep commercial credit expertise with hands-on operational oversight and innovative fintech solutions.
You will also leverage AI-powered tools to improve analytical efficiency, streamline documentation, and strengthen verification processes.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on credit risk management while helping shape the future of working capital financing.
Accountabilities
- Factoring Credit Underwriting: Underwrite prospective commercial A/R factoring facilities, assess borrower and account debtor creditworthiness, and establish appropriate debtor-level credit limits using financial statements, credit agency reports, payment histories, and trade references.
- UCC Lien Analysis and Perfection: Review and interpret comprehensive UCC lien searches, tax lien reports, and judgment filings to identify prior blanket liens, purchase money security interests (PMSIs), and other encumbrances. Coordinate lien releases, terminations, subordinations, and intercreditor agreements to secure first-priority interests in factored receivables.
- Invoice Verification and Collateral Assessment: Validate invoices, purchase orders, bills of lading, and proof of delivery before funding. Conduct pre-advance audits, assess debtor concentration and A/R aging, and identify potential disputes, fraudulent documentation, or collateral-related risks.
- Dilution and Reserve Management: Analyze chargebacks, returns, trade discounts, credit memos, co-op advertising deductions, and other dilution factors to determine appropriate advance rates, reserve holdbacks, and overall facility structures.
- Legal Documentation and Security Controls: Oversee UCC-1 financing statement filings, amendments, continuations, Notices of Assignment (NOAs), and lockbox or deposit account control agreements (DACAs). Maintain effective lien perfection and assignment procedures throughout the financing lifecycle.
- Portfolio and Debtor Monitoring: Monitor collections, remittance patterns, daily lockbox reconciliations, aged receivables, unapplied cash, and debtor payment behavior. Identify early warning indicators of borrower or account debtor distress and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Cross-Functional Product Collaboration: Work with Product, Engineering, and Risk Operations teams to translate factoring underwriting, lien verification, and invoice validation requirements into scalable fintech tools and automated workflows.
- AI-Driven Process Optimization: Use generative AI tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, to accelerate credit memo preparation, extract relevant information from complex debtor agreements, and improve documentation, data analysis, and verification audit trails.
- Direct Factoring Underwriting Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on commercial accounts receivable factoring underwriting experience, covering recourse and/or non-recourse facilities, within a commercial finance company, factoring firm, bank factoring division, or specialized fintech. Experience limited to merchant cash advances (MCA), revenue-based financing (RBF), or general unsecured lending does not meet this requirement.
- UCC Lien Analysis and Perfection Expertise: Proven ability to interpret complex UCC lien search reports, identify prior blanket liens, PMSIs, tax liens, and other active encumbrances, and coordinate lien releases, subordinations, and intercreditor agreements under UCC Article 9.
- Account Debtor Credit Assessment: Demonstrated experience evaluating account debtor risk, establishing debtor-level credit limits, reviewing payment behavior, and working with credit insurance policies.
- Invoice Verification and Factoring Operations: Strong understanding of invoice verification, pre-advance audits, confirmation calls, estoppels, assignment procedures, lockbox structures, remittance controls, and dispute resolution.
- Financial Analysis and Credit Skills: Solid credit fundamentals, including balance sheet and profit-and-loss analysis, cash flow modeling, A/R aging schedule analysis, debtor concentration assessment, and dilution calculations.
- Legal and Operational Attention to Detail: Ability to assess collateral eligibility, maintain accurate documentation, identify conflicting security interests, and ensure compliance with factoring-related legal and operational requirements.
- Fintech and Product Mindset: Interest in modernizing traditional factoring operations and collaborating with technical teams to develop automated underwriting, lien-checking, and invoice verification solutions.
- Technology and AI Proficiency: At least 1 year of practical experience using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to improve analytical and administrative workflows. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, SQL, and core factoring software platforms is also required.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, analytical rigor, and the ability to work effectively across credit, risk, operations, product, and engineering teams.
- U.S. Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.
