About the role
Description
Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A
NAC Architecture | Seattle, WA or Spokane, WA | Hybrid
Full-Time | Exempt
The Opportunity
NAC Architecture is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A to join our Finance team and report directly to the CFO.
This is a hands-on FP&A role for a finance professional who can independently build forecasts and financial models, analyze business performance, identify risks and opportunities, and turn complex data into clear recommendations for leadership.
The ideal candidate understands the economics of a professional-services business and the relationships among revenue, backlog, staffing, labor, utilization, project profitability, overhead and cash flow. Professional-services experience is strongly preferred; architecture, engineering or construction (A/E/C) experience is a plus.
This is a corporate finance/FP&A position, not a Business Analyst, financial systems, IT or requirements-gathering role. Candidates should have substantive experience performing financial forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, financial modeling and management reporting.
What You'll Do
· Lead key components of annual budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning.
· Own and enhance financial models covering revenue, labor, expenses, profitability and cash flow.
· Analyze actual results against budget and forecast, identify underlying business drivers and recommend actions.
· Analyze financial statements, KPIs and trends and prepare management-ready reports, dashboards and presentations.
· Evaluate backlog, staffing, utilization, labor, project profitability and overhead to identify risks and opportunities.
· Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to support staffing, compensation, investment and strategic decisions.
· Evaluate capital expenditures, investments, potential acquisitions and other strategic initiatives.
· Analyze cost structures and financial risks and recommend opportunities to improve profitability and mitigate risk.
· Partner with leadership to translate complex financial data into clear business insights.
· Proactively identify financial and operational issues rather than waiting for analysis to be requested.
· Continuously improve FP&A models, reporting, dashboards and analytical processes.
· Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects for the CFO and leadership.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
Required
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related financial discipline.
· 5+ years of progressive FP&A or financial analysis experience, including hands-on responsibility for budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling.
· Demonstrated ability to independently build and maintain financial models.
· Strong financial statement, KPI and variance-analysis skills.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
· Experience preparing management-level financial reporting and presenting findings to business leaders.
· Ability to move beyond reporting results to identify why performance changed, what is likely to happen next and what actions should be considered.
· Strong communication, business judgment, organization and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
· Professional-services or project-based industry experience.
· A/E/C experience.
· Experience analyzing backlog, project profitability, utilization, labor, staffing capacity and overhead.
· Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint/Vision, Power BI, PowerPoint, cloud-based FP&A tools and generative AI used in a professional finance environment, consistent with the technology expectations in NAC's current position.
What Success Looks Like
The successful Senior Financial Analyst will quickly become capable of:
· Independently owning assigned forecasts, analysis and management reporting.
· Explaining the business drivers behind financial results, not simply reporting variances.
· Identifying material risks and opportunities before they become obvious in reported results.
· Developing actionable recommendations for the CFO and business leaders.
· Improving the quality, efficiency and predictive value of NAC's FP&A processes.
