About the role
As a senior hardware verification and reliability engineer, you will own verification, qualification and reliability for hardware developed both internally and by external engineering partners. You will make sure every hardware change and new product meets ANDREW’s performance and quality requirements before it reaches customers. Products include our distributed antenna system (DAS), small cell and radio platforms. This is a hands-on, founding role in our new hardware engineering team in Suzhou, including setting up our local hardware lab.
Responsibilities:
Define and execute hardware design verification test (DVT) plans.
Develop qualification strategies for component replacements, printed circuit board (PCB) redesigns, subsystem changes and new radio products.
Perform radio frequency (RF), electrical, thermal, environmental and reliability testing.
Define acceptance criteria and independently validate deliverables from external engineering partners.
Lead failure analysis, root-cause investigation and corrective actions.
Support electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), safety, regulatory and product certification activities.
Work with manufacturing on production test coverage, yield analysis and first-pass yield.
Develop automated test methods to improve verification speed and coverage.
Set up and maintain the Suzhou hardware lab, including test equipment and calibration.
Track hardware quality metrics and report on design maturity to global engineering leadership.
Required Skills:
8+ years in hardware verification, qualification or reliability engineering.
Experience testing telecommunications or wireless infrastructure products.
Knowledge of RF measurements, environmental stress testing, thermal testing and EMC.
Familiarity with highly accelerated life and stress testing (HALT/HASS), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and reliability prediction.
Working knowledge of relevant standards, such as 3GPP conformance, IEC/EN 62368-1, ETSI EN 300 019, and FCC and CE requirements.
Experience with automated lab test equipment and scripting (Python preferred).
Structured, detail-oriented approach to test planning and reporting.
Experience working across global, cross-functional engineering teams.
Professional working proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Education and Experience:
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with Tier-1 vendors or operator deployments preferred.
