About the role
Maximize the long-term economic performance of Alliant's lending and deposit portfolio through advanced profitability analytics, acquisition economics, pricing strategy, portfolio optimization, and business-model performance management. Serve as the primary analytical partner while maintaining independent finance ownership of profitability methodologies, cost attribution, FTP, and economic performance measurement. Move beyond average product returns to develop actionable insights across products, risk tiers, channels, partners, dealers, member segments, and acquisition vintages. Translate insights into recommendations for pricing, growth, product design, marketing investment, underwriting, capital allocation, and portfolio strategy.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain risk-adjusted profitability views for RV, auto, HELOC, personal loans, credit cards, and emerging consumer lending products
- Analyze performance by credit tier, FICO band, geography, member tenure, relationship depth, product feature, acquisition channel, dealer, partner, and origination vintage
- Identify segments creating disproportionate economic value and segments requiring pricing, underwriting, expense, or growth intervention
- Construct and maintain acquisition-vintage P&L views across different consumer lending products
- Measure profitability and lifetime value by acquisition channel, partner, dealer, segment, product, credit tier, and vintage
- Develop granular acquisition unit-cost attribution, including marketing, partner, dealer, incentive, onboarding, servicing, operational, funding, credit, and capital costs
- Decompose underlying acquisition-cost and profitability drivers, monitor cohort performance over time, and recommend actions to improve results
- Benchmark Alliant acquisition economics and business-model performance against relevant peers and industry practices
- Define target-state business-model P&L economics and develop a sequenced strategic roadmap to close identified performance gaps
- Partner with consumer lending, treasury, credit risk, and finance to evaluate pricing, margin, growth, credit cost, funding cost, capital usage, and member value tradeoffs
- Support pricing governance with scenarios, recommendations, and post-implementation measurement
- Evaluate promotional offers, relationship pricing, and product structures using expected and realized economics
- Assess portfolio mix, channel economics, dealer and partner performance, and opportunities to improve risk-adjusted returns
- Develop recommendations for capital deployment, growth priorities, portfolio optimization, marketing investment, and resource allocation
- Create forward-looking scenarios connecting origination strategies to balance sheet, income, credit, and capital outcomes
- Help complete the profitability platform conversion and establish a working model with reliable, reconciled base results before constructing new data sources or advanced analytics
- Validate profitability outputs, source data, allocation methodologies, calculation logic, controls, and documentation
- Partner with finance, consumer lending, and data & analytics to establish a trusted single source of truth and a scalable foundation for future enhancements
- Serve as the dedicated finance business partner to consumer lending leadership. Prepare concise, answer-first insights for Finance leadership, Consumer leadership, ALCO, Internal Credit Committee, and ELT as appropriate
- Frame analytical findings as clear choices, tradeoffs, recommendations, actions, owners, and measurable outcomes
- Build dashboards covering economic profit, risk-adjusted ROA, life-of-loan value, acquisition-vintage P&L, contribution margin, channel economics, and portfolio trends. Integrate origination, servicing, credit, profitability, member, channel, dealer, partner, marketing, and expense data
- Establish consistent definitions, controls, documentation, and governance so insights are explainable and trusted
- Plan, oversee and lead the work of the team to meet functional and individual operational objectives and goals. Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
