Position Specific Description
Buyers are responsible for managing procurement activities across assigned commodities, including sourcing, supplier negotiations, purchase order execution, contract support and resolution of supplier or material issues. The role partners closely with the power generation business unit Planning, Engineering, Operations, and suppliers to understand requirements, maintain material availability, manage cost and commercial risk and support fleet reliability. Buyers are also expected to develop strong commodity and supplier knowledge, proactively identify improvement and savings opportunities and collaborate across the team to support changing business priorities.
Job Overview
This role executes the Purchase Requisition to Purchase Order (PR to PO) process and manages order fulfillment. Employees in this role would be expected to lead Requests For Proposal (RFPs), negotiations, and purchase document execution. Employees in this role will interact regularly with suppliers and address common supply chain issues. This role supports team initiatives and assists in data collection for stakeholders.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Executes PR to PO processes and manages order fulfillment
- Leads execution of RFPs and negotiations
- Interacts with suppliers and handles routine supplier questions
- Interacts with BU stakeholders around BU needs and specifications
- Addresses common supply chain issues and discrepancies
- Analyzes supplier performance on smaller scale purchases
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 2+ years
