About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Project Manager (Financial Services) based in Canada.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead complex banking and financial services initiatives, with a particular focus on implementing online banking solutions. You will oversee multiple project teams and large-scale programs, ensuring successful delivery while aligning execution with broader business objectives. Working closely with senior stakeholders and clients, you will drive strategic planning, facilitate collaborative discussions, and manage project risks, changes, and challenges. You will also promote Agile and Scrum practices, coach teams, and identify opportunities to improve processes and organizational effectiveness. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where adaptability, leadership, and strategic thinking are essential.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will take ownership of project and program delivery, coordinating teams, stakeholders, and resources to achieve business objectives. Your main responsibilities will include:

Manage banking projects focused on the implementation of online banking solutions.
Lead multiple project teams and oversee large-scale programs, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and delivery objectives.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to define long-term program strategies, priorities, and execution plans.
Organize and facilitate client workshops, project meetings, and strategic discussions.
Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate project and program risks.
Manage scope changes and evolving requirements while minimizing disruptions and adapting project plans accordingly.
Resolve project issues, remove delivery obstacles, and ensure projects progress successfully.
Train, mentor, and coach team members in Agile and Scrum methodologies to strengthen delivery practices.
Analyze project performance data and provide insights to support informed strategic decisions.
Drive continuous process improvements and support organizational change initiatives.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced project management professional with a strong background in financial services, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex initiatives in evolving business environments. Key qualifications include:

5–8 years of relevant project management experience.
Demonstrated experience in the financial services or banking sector.
Previous experience working in startup or scale-up environments.
Strong knowledge and practical application of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
Proven ability to manage multiple teams, concurrent projects, and large-scale programs.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience engaging with senior leadership and clients.
Ability to design, organize, and facilitate effective client workshops and project discussions.
Strong expertise in risk management, issue resolution, and change management.
Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools.
Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous, and constantly evolving environments.
Strong leadership, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
Agile coaching or team mentoring experience would be an additional advantage.
