About the Role
As a Service Volunteer with Aquarius, you will play an important role in supporting adults accessing our services. You will work alongside practitioners to provide practical and person-centred support, helping people engage with their recovery and work towards positive changes in their lives.
You may be involved in one-to-one sessions with practitioners, supporting group activities and events, and helping people attend appointments. You will also act as an ambassador for Aquarius, helping to promote our services and create a welcoming, inclusive and supportive environment.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others while developing new skills and gaining experience in a health and social care setting. You will receive a full induction, relevant training, monthly supervision and ongoing guidance from the team.
Key Duties
- Support practitioners during one-to-one sessions with people accessing our services.
- Help facilitate and support group sessions and activities.
- Assist with events and activities organised by Aquarius.
- Support people to attend appointments where required.
- Act as an ambassador for Aquarius, promoting a positive and welcoming image of the service.
- Help create an inclusive, supportive and non-judgemental environment for people accessing support.

- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
- Attend relevant training and supervision sessions to support your development.
About You
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and understanding individual who is passionate about helping others and making a positive difference in their lives.
You will be able to communicate with people in a patient, respectful and non-judgemental way, recognising the importance of confidentiality, professional boundaries and valuing diversity. You will have a good level of self-awareness and be willing to act as a positive role model to people accessing our services.
You should be comfortable working alongside practitioners and other team members, using your own initiative where appropriate and asking for help or guidance whenever you are unsure about a situation.
You do not need to have lived experience to volunteer in this role, although experience of substance misuse, gambling-related challenges or supporting a family member affected by these issues would be welcomed.
We ask for a minimum commitment of four hours, with consistency being important to help build positive relationships and provide ongoing support to people accessing our services.
