About the role
fomo is growing from one product into three: spot trading, tokenized equities, and perps. We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to help make all of it feel like one fast, intuitive, unmistakably fomo experience.
You'll own the design of an entire product line end to end, from deciding what we should build to the details of what ships. You'll set design direction alongside our founders, product, and engineering, and you'll shape the systems, patterns, and standards that every surface is built on. This is a hands-on IC role: you'll still be in Figma and in prototypes every day, working side by side with our frontend engineers.
This role is in-person in NYC. We have a strong in-person culture and a new, spacious office in SoHo.
What you'll do
Own the design of a full product line (for example perps or tokenized equities) across mobile and web, from problem framing and strategy to shipped product
Set design direction with the founders and engineering: turn ambiguous ideas into a clear point of view on what to build, why, and in what order
Keep spot, tokenized equities, and perps coherent, so users move between them without relearning anything
Lead the architecture of the fomo design system: the core patterns for trading, real-time data, charts, and social, and the standards the whole team builds on
Prototype fast and at high fidelity to test interactions and flows before we commit, and partner with frontend engineers through implementation until the details are right
Raise the craft bar across the team through critique, clear design principles, and your own work
Help build the design team as we grow: shape how we hire, interview, and onboard designers, and mentor the designers who join
Push how we use AI and new tooling to design and ship faster
Ideal candidate
8+ years of product design experience, including time operating at staff or lead level, or as an early designer who owned a product from 0 to 1
A portfolio that shows both exceptional craft and strategic impact: products you shaped, not just screens you delivered, with the outcomes they drove
Experience setting direction for a whole product or platform, and building or evolving a design system that others adopted
Track record of influencing founders, product, and engineering leaders without formal authority
Strong prototyping skills, and comfort iterating and shipping with AI and new tools
Thrives with autonomy and ownership on a small, flat team, and is energized by helping it grow
Experience designing complex consumer financial products (trading, investing, payments, or crypto), especially real-time and data-dense interfaces, is a big plus
Personal crypto trading experience is a plus. Everyone on our team trades, and it's what lets our product stand out amongst the competition.
Compensation and benefits
Base salary range: $250,000 to $315,000
Competitive cash compensation and equity
Comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, and vision for you and your dependents; including tax savings benefits such as HSAs and FSAs
401(k) with match
Group term life insurance
Flexible time off
Annual company offsites
