About the role
SUD Admissions Transportation Coordinator & Program Lead (NEMT)
Recovery Link – Wise Path Recovery Center, Aurora | Morgantown, WV
Full-Time | $48,000/year | Internal title: Transportation Program Supervisor
Build the bridge between “I’m ready” and “I’m here.”
In addiction treatment, the window between someone saying yes and actually walking through the door is short. Often the thing that closes it is a ride. Recovery Link is Wise Path’s new trauma-informed non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) program. It gets people across north-central West Virginia to SUD treatment, MAT, behavioral health and aftercare appointments.
We’re looking for someone who knows the SUD admissions world to build this program with our leadership team from day one, and then run it. You’ll set up the systems, hire and supervise the driver team, and make sure every ride a treatment provider asks for is scheduled, compliant and safe.
If you’ve worked in SUD admissions, intake, case management or treatment operations and you’re the person who always ends up fixing the logistics, this role is for you.
What You’ll Own
Program Build-Out (First 90 Days)
- Work directly with the Executive Sponsor to launch Recovery Link: write the dispatch, rider communication, pickup/drop-off, incident escalation, vehicle inspection and trip documentation procedures
- Set up the scheduling, trip-logging and reporting tools the program will run on
- Hire, onboard and train the first team of Driver/Transporters, many of them Peer Recovery Support Specialists
- Get drivers and vehicles credentialed and ready for service under Modivcare, West Virginia’s Medicaid NEMT broker
Admissions & Referral Coordination
- Work with admissions teams, treatment providers and referral partners to turn transportation requests into scheduled rides, especially time-sensitive rides to treatment admission
- Apply the program’s trip-priority rules when demand is higher than capacity
- Be the main operational contact for referral partners and community stakeholders
- Handle rider questions, concerns and complaints calmly and with compassion
Team Leadership
- Supervise, coach and evaluate the Driver/Transporter team
- Build staggered schedules that cover weekday service from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. plus weekend appointments, while keeping overtime under control
- Set clear expectations for safety, professionalism, attendance, documentation and rider experience
- Drive yourself when coverage requires it
Operations & Compliance
- Run daily dispatch, driver assignments and vehicle scheduling, including accepting and managing Modivcare trips
- Keep driver qualification files complete and current: license, MVR, background, registry and exclusion checks, drug screens and training certificates. Remove any driver from service right away if they stop meeting requirements
- Manage fleet maintenance, inspections, registration, insurance and safety equipment
- Review trip logs for completeness and track rides, on-time performance, cancellations and no-shows for monthly grant and compliance reporting
- Maintain fraud, waste and abuse reporting processes (including anonymous reporting) and protect rider information under HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
What You Bring
- 2+ years in SUD treatment admissions, intake, case management, behavioral health operations, NEMT/dispatch, or a related field
- At least 1 year supervising staff or leading a team, formally or informally
- Experience building or launching something: a new program, process, site or service line
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills; comfortable with spreadsheets, scheduling systems and detailed records
- Calm, respectful presence with people in crisis or early recovery
- Valid driver’s license, eligible for company auto insurance, and able to pass all Driver/Transporter screenings (you may provide backup rides)
Preferred
- Experience with Modivcare or another Medicaid transportation broker
- Working knowledge of SUD levels of care, payer verification or referral pathways in West Virginia
- WV Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification
- Lived experience of recovery
- Familiarity with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
Schedule & Location
Mostly weekday business hours, with flexibility for early morning, evening and weekend needs. Local travel throughout north-central WV.
Compensation & Funding
$48,000/year plus an employer contribution toward health insurance or retirement. This position is funded through a West Virginia Rural Health Transformation Program grant through September 30, 2027.
Screening & Training
Employment depends on passing a national background check, national and WV sex offender registry checks, a child abuse registry check, federal healthcare exclusion screening, an MVR review and a 10-panel drug screen. These may be repeated every year. Before transporting riders, you’ll complete First Aid/CPR/AED, defensive driving, CTAA PASS, and HIPAA/confidentiality training.
