About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tax Preparer & Customer Operations based in Brazil.
This full-time, fully remote role combines US tax preparation expertise with hands-on client and operational management.
You will work directly alongside a CPA founder, serving as the primary tax preparer while helping manage the firm's day-to-day client workflows.
Your responsibilities will span individual and business tax returns, document reviews, workpaper preparation, and client communications.
You will also oversee workflows in TaxDome, coordinate onboarding, and support monthly bookkeeping data collection.
The position offers meaningful ownership, direct exposure to firm operations, and the opportunity to contribute to a growing accounting practice.
It is particularly suited to an experienced tax professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent written English and a proactive, client-focused approach.
Accountabilities
-
Prepare complex individual tax returns, including Form 1040 with Schedules C, D, and E, using Drake Tax or comparable professional tax software.
-
Prepare business entity tax returns, including Form 1120-S and Form 1065, from raw client documentation to review-ready status.
-
Review client organizers and uploaded tax records, identifying missing documents, discrepancies, and inconsistencies before beginning return preparation.
-
Organize and stage structured workpaper packages to facilitate CPA review and final approval.
-
Stay current on US tax regulations, deductions, and reporting requirements relevant to small business owners and rental property investors.
-
Manage daily workflows and pipelines in TaxDome, monitor firm inboxes, respond to client chat inquiries, and track assignments from intake through completion.
-
Draft clear, professional emails in English to request missing documentation, clarify information, and communicate progress and timelines directly with clients.
-
Coordinate client onboarding, create new accounts, configure task templates, and maintain accurate client records.
-
Support monthly bookkeeping operations by monitoring financial document uploads and following up with clients to complete data collection.
-
At least 3 US tax seasons of experience preparing individual Form 1040 tax returns at a US accounting or CPA firm. Corporate tax compliance experience alone does not qualify.
-
Proven ability to prepare individual returns, including relevant schedules, and familiarity with business tax returns.
-
Hands-on experience with professional tax preparation software such as Drake Tax (strongly preferred), UltraTax, Lacerte, or ProSeries.
-
Practical experience using tax workflow and client portal platforms, preferably TaxDome, to manage tasks, pipelines, and document storage.
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
-
Native-level written English, with the ability to draft polished, accurate client emails independently without supervisor editing or oversight.
-
Strong understanding of US tax regulations and reporting requirements, particularly those affecting individuals, small businesses, and real estate investors.
-
Excellent attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
-
Proactive, client-oriented approach and the ability to manage responsibilities independently while working closely with a CPA founder.
-
Full-time availability Monday through Friday, with daily schedule overlap from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM US Eastern Time.
-
Residence in Latin America and eligibility to work remotely from the region. Applicants must have been born in Latin America and currently live there; US citizens are not eligible.
-
A high-performance computer, HD webcam, noise-canceling headset, reliable high-speed internet, and a secure, quiet home workspace.
-
Willingness to complete background and reference checks if required.
-
Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or active progress toward US CPA licensure.
-
Experience preparing partnership (Form 1065) and S-Corporation (Form 1120-S) tax returns.
-
Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) or basic monthly bookkeeping processes.
-
Monthly base salary of USD $2,800–$3,800, depending on experience.
-
Monthly compensation processed through Deel.
-
Performance and compensation review following the first tax season.
-
100% remote work from anywhere in Latin America.
-
Direct collaboration with the firm's CPA founder and meaningful visibility into business operations.
-
Opportunity to take ownership of tax preparation and client operations.
-
Structured career progression toward a Level 2 Senior Preparer role, with responsibility for more complex S-Corporation, partnership, and rental property returns with minimal review.
-
Opportunity to grow alongside the firm as administrative operations transition to dedicated support hires.
In this role, you will oversee tax preparation activities and client operations, ensuring accurate documentation, efficient workflows, and a professional client experience.
