About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Program Manager based in the United States.
We are seeking an organized, technically fluent Technical Program Manager to bridge business stakeholders and data engineering teams across multiple business units. In this role, you will own the intake, prioritization, and delivery coordination of data and analytics requests, ensuring engineering resources are focused on the highest-value initiatives. You will translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements while balancing urgency, available capacity, and long-term platform health. Working closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional partners, you will manage roadmaps, dependencies, and delivery expectations in a fast-paced environment. You will also help improve workflows through AI-assisted tools and structured processes that make work easier to scope, track, and execute. This opportunity is ideal for a collaborative, data-oriented professional who can navigate competing priorities, communicate confidently, and drive measurable results.

-
Translate business needs into technical requirements: Convert stakeholder requests into sprint-ready tickets with clearly defined scope, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and business impact that can be understood by engineers and AI coding agents.

Challenge requirements constructively: Clarify underlying business needs, distinguish genuine urgency from perceived urgency, and negotiate realistic deadlines or phased solutions based on engineering capacity.
-
Coordinate sprint planning and roadmaps: Partner with Data Engineering leadership to plan sprints and quarterly roadmaps while balancing immediate business needs, platform reliability, technical debt, and long-term value.
-
Maintain roadmap visibility: Keep Jira epics, backlogs, and roadmap documentation accurate and up to date so stakeholders and leadership can easily track priorities, timelines, and progress.
-
Manage dependencies and risks: Coordinate deliverables across departments, technology teams, and external vendors, identifying potential conflicts and escalating risks before they affect delivery.
-
Prioritize across business units: Take an enterprise-wide view of competing requests, identify shared priorities and duplicate efforts, and find opportunities to develop solutions that benefit multiple teams.
-
Track delivery and communicate progress: Monitor commitments against engineering capacity, proactively communicate status updates, and flag changes in scope, timelines, or delivery risks.
-
Improve program management processes: Develop and refine intake workflows, ticket templates, documentation standards, and AI-assisted processes to improve the quality and efficiency of work management.
-
Support team leadership: Lead and supervise team members when required by business needs to support successful program execution.
-
Professional experience: At least 8 years of experience in technical project management, program management, or implementation management, including at least 2 years supporting data, analytics, or engineering teams.
-
Education: Bachelor's degree required; a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
-
Requirements gathering: Proven ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and translate business objectives into well-defined technical requirements and acceptance criteria.
-
Project management tools: Strong experience with Jira, including backlogs, epics, sprints, and workflows, as well as familiarity with roadmap or work management tools such as Monday.com.
-
Cross-functional coordination: Demonstrated ability to manage dependencies, risks, deadlines, and competing priorities across multiple teams.
-
Data platform knowledge: Experience in a data warehouse environment through data engineering, analytics, or data warehouse project management is preferred.
-
Modern data stack familiarity: Knowledge of technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Dagster, or Fivetran is an advantage.
-
Technical understanding: Working knowledge of data pipelines and warehouse concepts, including data ingestion, orchestration, transformation, modeling, and quality, sufficient to scope requests and communicate credibly with engineers.

-
AI tools and workflows: Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools, including building repeatable workflows and preparing actionable tickets for AI coding agents, with the judgment to validate AI-generated outputs against actual data and business requirements.
-
Strategic decision-making: Strong business acumen and the ability to evaluate priorities across business units, balance trade-offs, and make recommendations based on organizational value and available capacity.
-
Communication and stakeholder management: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to engineers, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
