Job Responsibilities:
Job Profile SummaryThe On-Site Testing PM is responsible for successful day-to-day execution of on-site AI evaluation and functional testing projects, ensuring operational readiness, testing quality, resource coordination, and adherence to client requirements.
Serving as the primary on-site operational contact at the Welocalize Barcelona office, this role coordinates the local team of linguistic testers, managers client-provided devices and testing environments, and drives effective issue resolution, defect triage, and production reporting. The Testing PM combineshands-on testing expertise (smoke and pre-testing) with strong project coordination, technical aptitude, and sound operational judgment to ensure testing activities are delivered accurately, securely, and on schedule.
The role works closely with the Testing Leader, client stakeholders, and globally distributed testing teams to proactively manage execution risks, maintain consistent quality standards, and support continuous improvement of the testing processes.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
The following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and areas of ownership for the On-Site Testing Project Manager:
- Schedule local testers and room usage within the scope and timeline provided for each project; proactively identify and escalate resourcing or capacity risks.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for the client and coordinate device handling, including receiving, inventorying, issuing, and retrieving client devices (laptops, smartphones and smart glasses). Maintain accurate device assignment records, ensure secure storage and cleaning in accordance with established standards and complete basic device setup following documented procedures.
- Ensure the testing environment and processes are ready before work begins, including an enclosed, audio-isolated space for voice-based evaluation.
- Onboard and train local testers on project-specific instructions and client tools in advance of the start date and as scope changes, using materials from the client and internal teams where available.
- Update and maintain tester work instructions, developing new instructions as needed for new tasks; flag gaps or ambiguities rather than leaving them unresolved.
- Provide escalation support to testers, including device and tool troubleshooting.
- Perform bug triage: review defect reports and evaluation output, confirm testers are working to requirements, and take immediate corrective action on nonconformances.
- Perform smoke testing and pre-testing before full test cycles begin.
- Maintain trackers and dashboards to manage production; provide regular status updates and prepare end-of-testing reports as required by each project.
- Escalate production issues and blockers directly to client contacts; escalate any resource-related issues to the Testing Leader.
- Act as the local security representative, ensuring adherence to NDA requirements, device custody procedures, and confidentiality standards in a shared office environment.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Preferred: at least two years of experience in linguistic testing, linguistic review, software or product testing, editing, quality control, or quality engineering. Experience with AI evaluation is a plus; understanding of the concept matters more than detailed tool knowledge.
- Comfortable working with iOS and Android devices (pairing, companion apps, updates, resets) and learning new hardware such as smart glasses; training on client platforms will be provided.
- Fluent English (writing, speaking, reading, listening) for communication with all stakeholders and testers, including active participation in live and virtual meetings.
- Local language (Spanish) fluency is a benefit but not required.
- Availability for occasional check-ins across time zones with US based team and the client; extensive overlap is not expected.
- Willing to sign an NDA and complete a background check (required for device issuance).
Skills & Knowledge
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with periods of high pressure, such as delayed timelines or overlapping tasks.
- Sound judgment in prioritizing competing requirements.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: volumes and hours may ramp up gradually and are dependent on client demand.
Work Environment
- On-site at the Welocalize Barcelona (Spain) office; remote work is not available
