Tow Tractor Driver

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified person to fill a vacancy, based at Lanseria International Airport.

 

The main objective of the position is to oversee and coordinate the timely preparation, cleaning and safe movement of aircraft.

 

Key responsibilities

• Move aircraft into and out of hangars and apron areas using approved towing procedures.
• Check equipment at the start of each shift, use it correctly, and report misuse or defects to the Flight Line Supervisor.
• Maintain the safety and security of aircraft and equipment, and ensure operational areas remain safe and orderly.
• Follow all flight line protocols, equipment handling procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or relevant manager to support flight line operations.
• Assist with all ad hoc duties as assigned by the relevant manager

 

Educational & Experience

• Matric/Grade 10
• Driver’s License
• Radio License
• 1 year experience in tractor usage with regards to aircraft towing, and handling.
• General knowledge of aircraft and aircraft ground movement. (Aircraft Towing & Ground Handling Skills: Competent in safely towing, positioning, and parking aircraft in hangar and apron environments. Provides clear communication during aircraft movement. Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Knowledge: Skilled in operating, inspecting, and correctly handling tow bars, tractors, and related equipment. Safety Awareness & Risk Management: Strong understanding of flight line safety procedures, hazard identification, and equipment security.)
