About the role
Global Data Systems is moving from Managed Services Provider to Managed Intelligence Provider, and we are proving it on ourselves first. Our Customer Zero program turns twenty years of operational data (tickets, SLA clocks, devices, contracts) into managed intelligence that we run our own business on, then package and deliver to our customers. The motion is simple: See the truth, Steer the levers, Shift the metric.
The Transformation Engineer is a hands-on builder who will take on the Microsoft Fabric, AI, Copilot, and Power Automate work that the VP of Customer Operations has been leading, and help turn it from promising builds into tools GDS relies on every day. You do not need to be a Fabric expert on day one. We need someone who builds, learns fast, and is shipping useful work within the first few weeks. As capabilities prove themselves internally, you will help package and deploy them for customers and support the program and go-to-market around them. This is a builder-first role with real room to grow into an architect role.
What you will own
Build and run it on ourselves (Customer Zero)
• Get hands-on in our Microsoft Fabric environment quickly: build and maintain semantic models, reports, and data pipelines, and help bring more operational sources into one trusted Lakehouse.
• Help move AI capabilities from pilot to daily use, including agents, Copilot skills, and pipelines for commitment intelligence, contract extraction, and executive pre-reads.
• Build and support Power Automate flows, Power Apps, and API connections that remove manual work from service delivery, reporting, and account management.
• Help instrument the metrics that matter so our numbers are honest and complete, with the same data reaching our teams and our customers.
• Work with the Service Desk, NOC, PMO, Finance, and account teams to understand their problems and get what you build into how they actually work.
Help package and deploy for customers
• Help turn proven internal capabilities into repeatable customer offerings by documenting how they work, what they need, and how to deploy them.
• Take a hands-on build role in early customer deployments, from data readiness through build, rollout, and adoption.
• Build reusable pieces (templates, model patterns, flow and agent libraries, checklists) so each deployment is faster than the last.
• Bring lessons from customer work back into the Customer Zero platform so internal and customer tools improve together.
Support the program and go-to-market
• Contribute to the Managed Intelligence offering with the VP of Customer Operations, Sales, and the Microsoft practice, bringing the builder's view of what is realistic to deliver.
• Demo what you have built in customer briefings, workshops, and QBRs, showing what GDS runs on itself.
• Help deliver Microsoft-funded engagements, such as Copilot and agent workshops, internally first and then for customers.
• Earn relevant Microsoft certifications and contribute to customer references that support the Microsoft Copilot Specialization.
Build it the right way
• Keep a simple, current inventory of the AI and automation tools you build: who owns them, what data they use, and whether they are being used.
• Follow and help shape our governance practices around data sensitivity, security, and consumption cost.
• Build so things are easy to support, hand off, and move as the platforms change.
• Take an active part in the AI Center of Excellence, including office hours and "I Built This" sessions that help others across GDS build too.
Requirements
Required
· Three or more years of hands-on experience building business solutions, automation, or data products, ideally with Microsoft tools.
· Working experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, or report building). Fabric experience is a plus, not a requirement.
· A track record of things you have built and shipped, such as Power Automate flows, Power Apps, Copilot Studio agents, scripts, or integrations, that people actually use.
· Real curiosity about generative AI and a habit of trying new tools, with good judgment about data security and cost.
· Comfort working with business users and customers to understand a problem and turn it into a working solution.
· Clear communication: able to demo your work and write simple documentation others can follow.
Preferred
· Microsoft certifications such as Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300), Power Platform (PL-200 or PL-400), or Fabric Analytics Engineer (DP-600), or a willingness to earn them in the first year.
· Experience with ConnectWise or other PSA and service desk data.
Experience in a managed services, IT services, or consulting environment.
