About the role
Production Manager (Value Stream Manager)
Help our packaging teams do their best work
Are you energized by improving how things run, supporting people as they grow, and seeing great ideas make a difference on the production floor? As a Value Stream Manager, you’ll lead a product packaging segment and work with teams across the site to deliver strong results in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop a high-performing team, strengthen day-to-day operations, and keep products moving accurately through the value stream.
What You’ll Do
Lead and coordinate Production department activities to meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost goals.
Work with partners across the supply chain to improve performance from production through product flow.
Coach and develop employees, set clear expectations, share feedback, complete performance reviews, and support a positive, engaged team.
Lead loss analysis and contribute to daily direction setting, from the production line through the site level.
Find and drive practical improvements to equipment and methods, including operational equipment effectiveness (OEE), Lean manufacturing, labor utilization, and quality.
Keep an eye on operational costs—including labor, inventory, scrap, and equipment downtime—and help the department meet its budget.
Promote and follow KDC’s safety and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.
Manage product flow and inventory accuracy across assigned value streams.
Prepare preliminary budget information, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other documentation in line with company policy.
Protect confidential employee, customer, sales, financial, and other sensitive information.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance and adjust work hours as needed to support business demands, including off-shifts.
Take on other related duties as needed.
What You’ll Bring
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, operations management, or a related field; or at least 10 years of experience in a filling or packaging environment in lieu of a degree.
At least five years of management experience in a filling and packaging environment.
Cosmetics or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, FDA Good Manufacturing Practices, OSHA safety requirements, SAP or a related inventory management system, and Lean manufacturing principles.
A practical, proactive approach to solving problems and preventing them from recurring.
The ability to prioritize competing needs, navigate challenging situations with limited direction, and adapt as business demands change.
Experience managing, coaching, and developing others, with an interest in building a high-performing team.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to present information to individuals and groups.
Organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under short deadlines.
The ability to develop and maintain processes and workflows, follow written and verbal instructions including SOPs, and work independently or as part of a team.
The ability to operate a computer and high-speed filling production equipment and to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
Other functions, skills, and abilities may apply.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds manually.
Work in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment with moderately loud noise.
Spend time both at a computer and on the production floor, including extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
Use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands or arms; stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push, and pull.
Work around motorized equipment moving throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks and forklifts.
