About the role
EQT is looking for a Vice President, Tax Compliance to help lead its US tax compliance and reporting activities, working closely with the New York-based tax team and the wider Global Tax function. This role offers an opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of tax compliance work within a global investment firm, while partnering with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
About the Team
The Tax Compliance team sits within EQT's global Tax & Structuring (T&S) function, which brings together more than 30 professionals across New York, London, Stockholm, Luxembourg, Singapore, and Hong Kong, with a new team now building in Warsaw. The team is multicultural, with backgrounds spanning tax compliance, accounting, advisory, M&A, and tax operations across multiple jurisdictions.
The team manages EQT's international tax compliance obligations across partnerships and corporate entities tied to the firm's investment funds, carried interest, and employee-related vehicles. It also supports investor tax reporting and allocation calculations and serves as a key point of contact for investors on tax-related questions. To deliver on this, the team works with large volumes of data, uses tax technology and proprietary systems to streamline processes, and collaborates closely with fund controllers, portfolio managers, and external advisors.
About the Role
This role takes ownership of US tax reporting and compliance matters, working independently while partnering closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers. It combines hands-on delivery with process improvement and technology-driven initiatives.
- Lead US federal, investor, and personal tax reporting matters, including annual K-1 preparation for US private wealth products.
- Coordinate the US tax reporting process for the individual investor base across Private Capital and Real Assets.
- Review tax deliverables prepared by external service providers to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Oversee the timely calculation and distribution of investor tax reports, including quarterly tax estimates.
- Manage the timely payment of state tax liabilities and lead investor tax queries, with a focus on service quality.
- Partner with HR teams and service providers to support employees with complex personal tax situations during international assignments.
- Maintain oversight of tax reporting processes through regular check-ins with external providers, tracking quality, timelines, and budgets.
- Lead responses to tax audits and authority requests, and drive automation and process improvements across tax compliance activities.
About You
We're looking for an organised, analytical tax professional with strong communication skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What you'll bring (must-have):
- Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in tax, accounting, or law.
- Proven experience in tax compliance or tax advisory work, typically around 7 years, gained at a professional services firm, in a financial controller role, or as a tax lawyer.
- Strong understanding of investment fund structures, such as feeders, blockers, sidecars, and co-investment vehicles, along with carry and waterfall computation models.
- Solid grounding in tax principles and the regulatory environment, with hands-on experience in tax compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks independently in a dynamic setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with process management tools.
- Fluency in English, spoken and written
What we offer
- A unique, challenging and independent role managing a broad range of tax compliance and reporting activities.
- A position at the heart of a dynamic and successful private equity / venture capital firm.
- The opportunity to be part of an inspiring, multicultural team of professionals and to gain exposure to complex and non-traditional structures.
