EVS is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, and civil engineering design for renewable energy and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with data, and developing practical engineering solutions that support successful project delivery.
The Water Resources Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop models, prepare technical reports, perform quality control reviews, and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and regulatory requirements. This position also offers opportunities to develop technical expertise, mentor junior team members, and take on increasing responsibility as part of a growing engineering team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Interpret project requirements, site constraints, geotechnical information, and survey data, translating them into digital formats using QGIS and HEC-RAS software.
- Develop and execute hydrologic and hydraulic engineering models with minimal supervision, considering available data, contractual deliverables, client needs, and project constraints.
- Assist design teams with engineering calculations for culverts, stormwater management features, and drainage channels.
- Optimize tracker grading designs to help minimize earthwork and improve overall site design.
- Develop hydrology reports and water resources data for stormwater reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with project requirements.
- Review and perform quality control checks on Engineering Associate I work, providing constructive feedback on data collection, model structure, parameters, and results.
- Conduct peer reviews of engineering deliverables to identify potential issues and ensure adherence to EVS standards.
- Utilize Bluebeam and other tools to support quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Research and review state and local codes, ordinances, and permitting requirements to ensure compliance with site specific regulations.
- Apply engineering principles to hydrologic and hydraulic models, evaluating model structure, parameters, and available data to produce accurate results.
- Assist with the development of stormwater reports, hydrology reports, model result mapping, and digital files for internal and external client delivery.
- Ensure engineering analyses and deliverables align with project scopes, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
- Serve as a technical resource for junior staff by providing guidance on modeling, troubleshooting, and engineering workflows.
- Assist with training junior engineers and helping them develop foundational technical skills.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to address technical challenges, coordinate project activities, and improve design quality.
- Seek feedback, share knowledge, and pursue opportunities for continued technical and professional development.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in civil engineering, hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, or a related field.
- Proficiency with ArcMap or QGIS for data processing and map generation.
- Familiarity with HEC-RAS or similar hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles related to hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, and stormwater management.
- Experience interpreting and applying engineering standards, state and local codes, ordinances, and permitting requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for project documentation and reporting.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam for quality control reviews, markups, and redlining.
- Ability to interpret project requirements and apply local, state, and federal regulations to engineering analyses with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to research technical challenges and develop practical engineering solutions independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to colleagues and clients.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to provide guidance to junior engineers as technical experience develops.
