About Coranet
Coranet is a national low-voltage Division 27 & 28 contractor delivering structured cabling, wireless, audio-visual, and physical security (access control and video surveillance) for office, multifamily, hospitality, industrial, and retail projects. We're a certified Women-Owned Business and a 4-time Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private company in America.
The Role
We're hiring a field-first Assistant Project Manager to coordinate Division 27/28 work on new-construction projects in Central Florida and statewide. You'll be based in Orlando, working from home and on job sites, with active sites visited weekly. You'll train in person at our Fort Lauderdale office initially and then routinely and receive ongoing support from senior PMs, with regular leadership visits. This role is a path to Project Manager, then Senior Project Manager.
It fits either a low-voltage lead tech or foreman ready to move into project management, or an early-career coordinator or APM with hands-on low-voltage knowledge. A prior PM title is not required.
What You'll Do
- Walk active job sites weekly to verify progress and quality against drawings and specs, and document issues with clear notes and photos.
- Coordinate upcoming work with technicians, subcontractors, GCs, and the Coranet team so crews stay productive.
- Track materials, deliveries, labor hours, schedule commitments, punch lists, and open items until each one is closed.
- Catch scope gaps, drawing conflicts, site-readiness problems, and potential change orders early, and bring them to the senior PM.
- Support RFIs, submittals, procurement, change-order documentation, and closeout.
- Send clear weekly updates covering progress, next steps, who owns what, and decisions needed.
- Represent Coranet on site: be the person GCs and customers want back, and spot add-on and follow-up work.
- Take on budgets and full project ownership as you grow.
What We're Looking For
- 2–3+ years in low-voltage construction (structured cabling and fiber; access control, CCTV, or AV a plus) as a tech, foreman, coordinator, or APM.
- Ability to read construction drawings: pathways, cable routing, MDF/IDF layouts, and installation sequencing.
- A self-starter who works independently, follows through, raises problems early, and knows when to ask for help.
- Detail-oriented, with clear written and verbal communication; comfortable with field crews and GCs.
- A positive, professional attitude, the kind of person customers ask for by name.
- Comfort with Excel, PDF/plan-review tools, and digital documentation. We encourage using company-approved AI tools to work faster; you own the accuracy.
- High school diploma or GED required; a degree is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to travel statewide, including overnights, and to complete initial training in Fort Lauderdale.
- Valid Florida driver's license, clean driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle.
- Ability to pass a background check (some sites require school or government badging).
- Bluebeam, simPRO, Procore, OSHA 10, or BICSI a plus.
- Claude or ChatGPT experience with construction a plus.
What We Offer
- Competitive base plus performance bonus, with regular performance reviews
- Health, dental, and vision; paid time off and holidays
- 401K retirement plan and match
- Company laptop and phone
- Hands-on training and a path to Project Manager and run large scale commercial projects
