The role
Lead electrical site delivery on major data centre projects, from mobilisation through installation, commissioning and handover. Manage electricians, subcontractors and operatives, keeping safety, quality, programme and cost under control.
You must have substantial electrical projects under your belt. Give clear direction, know what your teams are delivering and tackle problems while there is time to fix them.
Key responsibilities
- Lead site teams and maintain rolling 12-week look-aheads, coordinating labour, access, programme interfaces, materials and equipment with daily work plans.
- Enforce RAMS, permits, toolbox talks and site safety standards. Stop unsafe work and follow through on corrective actions.
- Verify installations through inspections and quality checks, applying relevant local standards and BS 7671 where applicable.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, other trades and the main contractor to remove delivery constraints.
- Track delivery against the work breakdown structure (WBS), maintain progress-drawing mark-ups and report measured output, productivity, resource use and recovery actions weekly.
- Identify out-of-scope work, remeasurable items, variations and dayworks promptly.
- Record quantities, instructions, hours, materials, plant and sign-offs to substantiate entitlement with the commercial team.
- Coordinate procurement, material availability and deliveries against the 12-week programme.
- Represent Centum in site meetings and maintain professional client relationships.
- Plan snag closure, testing, commissioning and handover readiness with the relevant specialists.
What we are looking for
- Typically 5–10 years of relevant electrical construction experience, including proven site leadership; greater experience welcome.
- Recognised electrical installation qualification, such as a completed electrical apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Demonstrated management of electricians, subcontractors and operatives on sizeable projects.
- Relevant site access and safety credentials, such as Safe Pass, ECS/CSCS or local equivalent.
- SMSTS/SSSTS or equivalent, as appropriate.
- Strong planning, WBS tracking, drawing mark-up, change capture and practical electrical installation knowledge.
- Confident use of Excel and digital operational, HR, reporting and client systems.
- Primavera P6 or Procore experience desirable.
- Previous data centre experience desirable, but not essential where you can demonstrate strong electrical construction delivery.
Bring the evidence
Experience matters. Evidence earns trust. Tell us what you personally owned and the results you delivered.
- Project or electrical package values, crew sizes and your delivery responsibilities.
- Examples of recovering a programme, improving productivity or resolving installation quality issues.
- References able to substantiate your leadership, safety standards and results.
Anonymised examples and figures are welcome. We may follow up with references; confidential employer, client or employee records are not required.
How success is measured
Safe delivery, reliable WBS progress records, coordinated 12-week plans, productive work fronts, evidenced change capture and readiness for handover.
Responsibility and judgement
Direct daily site activities, allocate resources, stop unsafe work and sign off checks within your competence. Escalate programme, safety and commercial risks to the Project Manager or Divisional Manager.
Why join Centum
Bring your electrical construction experience to major European data centre projects. Work with experienced colleagues, lead substantial site teams and take ownership of delivery.
European rotations are available according to assignment. Rotation, travel, accommodation and any assignment-specific pay or tax arrangements will be explained during recruitment. These depend on the project, employment arrangements and individual circumstances.
Be clear about the location
You can’t build a data centre from your spare room.
You will need to live near your assigned project during your working rotation and lead your teams on the ground.
This is not an occasional site-visiting role. Project location and rotation arrangements will be discussed during recruitment.
