About the role
The Supported Return from Suspension (SRSP) program in Waterloo, located on Gadigal land, supports students during their suspension and assists with their successful reintegration into mainstream schools. The program offers a structured and individualised reintegration process, including the coordination of re-entry meetings with students, families, and staff to clarify expectations and address the factors leading to suspension. Tailored support plans are developed, along with recommendations for adjustments to classroom practices that promote positive behaviour and engagement. Regular monitoring and collaboration with staff are essential to provide consistent support and reduce the risk of further suspensions. The Head Teacher SRSP fosters positive and authentic professional networks with neighbouring mainstream high schools to ensure Department of Education provisions can be accessed promptly when needed. Additionally, the Head Teacher leads staff, manages resources, liaises with parents and schools, and monitors student progress to achieve positive educational and behavioural outcomes.
